The situation on site was challenging: the cellar shaft must not be loaded with weight and at the same time light must continue to enter the shaft. Simply starting a cupboard after the shaft would be technically possible, but would quickly look like a "half-hearted attempt". That is precisely why this solution was custom-designed – so that function and appearance match and the area does not look like a compromise.
The cupboard was extended to the left – but not as a full cupboard compartment, rather with a lid, back wall and a firmly screwed-in shelf. The door, left side wall and floor were deliberately omitted. This allows light items to be stored in the left-hand area without weighing down the cellar shaft. The tap remains freely accessible, light continues to enter the shaft and the previously "dead corner" is put to good use. It is precisely these details that make customisation what it is: a solution that adapts to the situation and really works on site.
