In this reference project, a narrow garden shed was built directly onto the existing garage. The width and height are based on the garage, so that the structure appears to be an extension of the existing structure and makes good use of the narrow space. It was important that the usable space to the left of the extension remained free – which is why a hinged door was deliberately used at the front instead of a sliding door along the side wall.
This solution allows the area on the left to remain a passageway and storage space, while the garden shed itself creates additional storage space. The ESG glazing on the left side brings daylight into the interior, making the narrow extension appear much more spacious than its floor space would suggest.
Inside, a wall shelving system with height-adjustable shelves has been installed along the entire length. This allows the available space to be organised flexibly – from garden tools and boxes to small items. Everything has its place without completely cluttering up the floor.
The result is a highly usable storage space in what is already a confined situation: the extension to the garage keeps the courtyard clear, brings order to tools and accessories, and remains pleasantly bright and uncluttered thanks to the glazing and shelving system.
No impregnating, sanding or painting - never again thanks to HPL!
